Warwick Community Advisory Boards

Community Advisory Board

Warwick generational perspective and partnership will help shape our local projects.  Farm and landowner leadership is required on all local advisory boards.  There are many benefits to having a community advisory board (CAB) for large solar farm projects. CABs are made up of members of the local community, and they can provide valuable insights and feedback on the project from a community perspective. This can help to ensure that the project is designed and implemented in a way that is sensitive to the needs and concerns of the Warwick community.

Some of the specific benefits of a Warwick CAB for large solar farm projects include:

  • Increased community support: A CAB can help to build trust and goodwill between the solar developer and the community. This can lead to increased support for the project, which can make it easier to obtain permits and other approvals.

  • Improved project design: A CAB can provide feedback on the project design to help ensure that it is compatible with the community and its environment. For example, the CAB may suggest ways to minimize the visual impact of the project or to protect sensitive wildlife habitats.  Additionally, CABs can work with O&R to ensure safety and reliability for the Warwick community.

  • Reduced conflict: A CAB can help to identify and resolve potential conflicts between the project and the community early on. This can help to avoid delays and cost overruns down the road.

  • Increased economic benefits: A CAB can help to ensure that the project benefits the local community as much as possible. For example, the CAB may advocate for the hiring of local workers or for the use of local businesses in the construction and operation of the project.

In addition to these specific benefits, a CAB can also help to promote environmental justice and ensure that the benefits of solar energy are shared equitably among all members of the community.
